Iced Mocha Shake made with OptitrimMD Dutch Chocolate meal replacement shake

Iced Mocha Shake

Cold brewed coffee blended straight into the Dutch Chocolate shake, so your morning coffee and your morning meal replacement are the same glass. Coffee adds no bulk to the shake, but keep caffeine within what your provider advised.

Prep ahead: chilled brewed coffee or cooled espresso.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Optitrim Dutch Chocolate
  • 120 ml (4 oz) brewed coffee, chilled, or 1 shot espresso, cooled
  • 120 ml (4 oz) cold water – use the total liquid your packet directs
  • 4 to 5 ice cubes
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

Method

  1. Pour the coffee and water into the blender first, then add the packet – liquid first stops the powder caking on the blades.
  2. Add the ice and blend on high for about 30 seconds, until smooth and frothy.
  3. Pour into a tall glass and dust with cinnamon if using.

Tip: Freeze leftover coffee in an ice cube tray and use those cubes in place of plain ice – the shake stays cold to the last sip without turning watery.

Vanilla Berry Smoothie made with OptitrimMD French Vanilla meal replacement shake

Vanilla Berry Smoothie

Frozen berries turn the French Vanilla shake thick and tart, the way a smoothie shop version tastes without the syrups. Fruit counts toward your day, so keep the portion to what your provider set for you.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Optitrim French Vanilla
  • 240 ml (8 oz) cold water – or the amount your packet directs
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh lemon zest (optional)

Method

  1. Pour the cold water into the blender, add the packet, and blend for 10 seconds to dissolve it.
  2. Add the frozen berries and ice.
  3. Blend 30 to 45 seconds, until no berry pieces are left and the color is even.
  4. Pour and drink right away – it starts to separate as it stands.

Tip: Frozen berries do the work of ice, so the smoothie stays thick instead of thinning out. If you only have fresh berries, add two extra ice cubes.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake made with OptitrimMD Dutch Chocolate meal replacement shake

Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake

Powdered peanut butter carries the roasted peanut flavor without the spoonful of oil that jarred peanut butter brings. It tastes like a dessert and stays a controlled meal – check with your provider before swapping in the jarred kind.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Optitrim Dutch Chocolate
  • 240 ml (8 oz) cold water – or the amount your packet directs
  • 1 tablespoon powdered peanut butter, unsweetened
  • 5 ice cubes
  • Small pinch of fine sea salt (optional)

Method

  1. Pour the water into the blender, then add the Optitrim packet and the powdered peanut butter.
  2. Blend 15 seconds so both powders dissolve before the ice goes in.
  3. Add the ice and blend another 30 seconds, until thick and smooth.
  4. Add the pinch of salt, pulse once, and pour into a chilled glass.

Tip: Chill the glass in the freezer while you blend. A cold glass keeps the shake thick for the ten minutes it takes to drink it.

Mixed Berry Parfait made with OptitrimMD Mixed Berries meal replacement shake

Mixed Berry Parfait

Mixed with less water than usual, the OptitrimMD shake goes thick enough to layer with yogurt and eat with a spoon – useful on the days when drinking another shake is the last thing you want. This line is dispensed through your provider, and the yogurt and fruit are additions, so confirm the portion with your clinic.

Ingredients

  • 1 serving OptitrimMD Mixed Berries, scooped as your provider directs
  • 120 ml (4 oz) cold water
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup fresh raspberries and blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 2 fresh mint leaves (optional)

Method

  1. Whisk the powder into the cold water in a small bowl until completely smooth – less water than a drink, so it stays thick.
  2. Fold in the Greek yogurt until the color is even.
  3. Spoon half the mixture into a glass, add half the berries, then repeat the two layers.
  4. Top with chia seeds and mint, and chill 10 minutes if you want it firmer.

Tip: Build it the night before in a lidded jar. The chia seeds keep drawing in moisture overnight and by morning it sets into a spoonable breakfast.

Vanilla Chai Latte made with OptitrimMD French Vanilla meal replacement shake

Vanilla Chai Latte

A warm shake for cold mornings – brewed chai, cinnamon and cardamom stirred into French Vanilla. The spices add flavor rather than bulk, which is the point of it.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Optitrim French Vanilla
  • 1 unsweetened chai tea bag (black or rooibos)
  • 240 ml (8 oz) hot water – or the total liquid your packet directs
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus a little for the top
  • Pinch of ground cardamom
  • Pinch of ground ginger (optional)

Method

  1. Steep the chai tea bag in the hot water for 4 minutes, then remove the bag.
  2. Let the tea stand 3 to 4 minutes until it is warm rather than steaming – very hot liquid makes the powder clump.
  3. Whisk in the Optitrim packet and the spices until fully dissolved and no grains are left on the bottom.
  4. Pour into a mug and dust the top with a little more cinnamon.

Tip: A small handheld milk frother dissolves it faster and more evenly than a spoon, and gives you a proper foam on top.

Strawberry Cream Cooler made with Optitrim Strawberry meal replacement shake

Strawberry Cream Cooler

Frozen strawberries and a spoon of Greek yogurt take the Strawberry shake somewhere close to a soft-serve, and it is still one packet and cold water underneath. Fruit and yogurt are additions – keep them within what your provider advised.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Optitrim Strawberry
  • 240 ml (8 oz) cold water – or the amount your packet directs
  • 3/4 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon plain nonfat Greek yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 2 fresh basil or mint leaves (optional)

Method

  1. Pour the cold water into the blender, add the packet, and blend 10 seconds to dissolve.
  2. Add the frozen strawberries, the yogurt if using, and the ice.
  3. Blend 45 seconds, stopping once to scrape the sides down, until completely smooth.
  4. Pour into a chilled glass and tear a basil leaf over the top.

Tip: Water controls the texture here: a splash more thins it into a drink, a splash less keeps it thick enough to eat with a spoon.
